Why We Are Here!
The Dayton Avenue Southern Baptist Church family is called to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
"So he answered and said, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.' " (Luke 10:27 - NKJV)
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen." (Matthew 28:19-20, NKJV)
There are six applications from these passages that we utilize to advance His kingdom:
* Worship - expresses loving the Lord our God with "all our heart, with all our soul, with all our strength, and with all our mind" through public praise and proclamation.
* Service - expresses our love for the Lord through 'gift-based' ministries.
* Fellowship - expresses our Covenant relationship with one another.
* Evangelism - expresses our passion for bringing the lost to a saving relationship with the Lord!
* Discipleship - expresses our desire to be and to make disciples who are daily conforming toward the perfect image of Jesus Christ.
* Missions - expresses our duty to be a Christian witness in Peoria, in Illinois, in North America and upon the international mission fields.
